Understand your Stripe account
Stripe Health: what your account can actually do today
Merchants regularly discover a problem with their Stripe account on the day money should have arrived. Stripe Health reads the signals Stripe already publishes about your connected account and states them separately and plainly, including the distinction most dashboards blur: taking payments and getting paid out are two different permissions.
What is EPG Stripe Health?
EPG Stripe Health is a read-only view of the signals Stripe reports for a merchant's connected account — whether charges are enabled, whether payouts are enabled, outstanding verification requirements, account restrictions, balance and payout information, disputes and payment failures — presented as categorical states with the time the data was read. Stripe remains the authority; EPG explains what Stripe says.
Payments enabled is not payouts enabled
In Stripe's account model, `charges_enabled` means the account may accept payments, and `payouts_enabled` means Stripe may send settled funds to the bank account. They fail independently. An account can be happily taking card payments while payouts sit disabled behind an unread verification request, which is exactly how a merchant ends up with a growing balance and an empty bank account.
What Stripe Health shows
- Whether payments are currently enabled, and whether payouts are currently enabled — shown separately, never merged into one 'active' badge.
- Verification requirements Stripe is asking for, with any deadline Stripe has attached.
- Restrictions or a disabled reason where Stripe reports one.
- Balance and payout information as Stripe reports it.
- Open disputes and recent payment failures, with the money at stake.
- Recurring-revenue signals such as failed renewals.
Honest states, including 'unknown'
If a signal cannot be read, the page says so rather than guessing. Every state is stamped with when it was read, so you can tell a green light from a stale one. No state on this page is EPG's opinion of your account — it is Stripe's, quoted.
One next action
Where something needs doing, the page names a single next action and links to the place Stripe wants it done. Where nothing needs doing, it says that too.

The facts
- Stripe Health is read-only: it never changes an account, a payment or a payout.
- Payments status and payout status are always shown separately.
- Every state carries the time the underlying data was read from Stripe.
- Where a signal is unreadable, the state shown is 'unknown' rather than a guess.
- Stripe processes the payments and decides account status. Enterprise Pay Gateway is independent software that reads what Stripe reports and organises it for you.
What this does not do
- EPG does not approve accounts, verify identity, underwrite merchants or lift restrictions — Stripe does.
- EPG cannot prevent an account being restricted or a payout being delayed.
- EPG does not predict Stripe's decisions; it reports the signals Stripe publishes.
Common questions
- How do I know if my Stripe account can accept payments?
- Stripe reports a charges_enabled flag on the account. When it is true the account may accept payments. EPG Stripe Health shows that state in plain words, with the time it was read.
- What is the difference between Stripe payments enabled and payouts enabled?
- Payments enabled (charges_enabled) means Stripe will let the account accept money. Payouts enabled (payouts_enabled) means Stripe will send settled money to the bank account. They are independent: payments can work while payouts are blocked, usually because Stripe is waiting on verification information.
- Why are my Stripe payouts disabled?
- Common reasons are outstanding verification requirements, a bank account Stripe could not validate, or a restriction Stripe has applied to the account. Stripe states the reason and any requirements on the account; EPG surfaces those requirements and links you to where Stripe asks for them. Only Stripe can re-enable payouts.
- How can I see my Stripe verification requirements?
- Stripe attaches outstanding requirements to the connected account. EPG lists them, with any deadline Stripe has set, so nothing is discovered on the day a payout was expected.
- Does EPG change anything about my Stripe account?
- No. Stripe Health is read-only. Account changes happen on Stripe's own onboarding and verification surfaces.
